Today was my first day and I was not sure what to expect. To start out the day, I went on 6.5 miles of all-terrain hiking and I was by far one of the fastest ones in my group. :) We got to see petroglyphs, or ancient Indian pictures etched in the rocks. We also saw a coyote and heard others across the valley, including some baby coyotes!! I get to go to one of the fastest hiking groups tomorrow! Yeah!!! It was fun and I felt good with how well I did considering I never have really been hiking before.
After our hike, we had a lecture and then lunch. After lunch we went to another lecture and then started our afternoon workout sessions. The workout in the pool was truly a workout. I was literally sweating in the pool. We ran, skipped, cross country skied, high-kneed, and swam across the pool. We did jumping jacks, push ups out of the pool and kicked at the side for long periods of time. Phew!
The next class was Circuit Training. This class consists of doing 2 intense minutes of high-speed cardio followed by 2 45-second intervals of strength training on weight machines. This repeats for 45 minutes. OUCH!
Our last class for today was Core Training which works on strengthening the mid-section. Who knew there were so many different exercises for so many muscles in the mid-section.
I was very glad when the day was finished. When the trainer announced that we had made it through Monday, I felt very emotional. I could literally feel tears welling up in my eyes. I DID IT!!
