Today we went on a hike called Saddle. We start out at the bottom of a very steep mountain and at the peak of the mountain, there is actually a dip that looks like a saddle. It took us (the lead group – Paul and I) 35 minutes of hiking and climbing rocks to reach the top of the Saddle. It was exhausting. The climb was super steep! Once we were at the top we hiked down into what they call Fern Gully which was the base of steep cliffs that turn into a waterfall when it rains. We continued on to several other fun climbs and even had to straddle the walls to get over water in one place. There were several other places where water had gathered and turned into ice because it is so cold. Paul and I finished our hike so quickly that we added on another hike to the end… Piano. After climbing Piano we still had extra time so we walked for another half hour or so.
After we got back, I went to Open Gym and then lunch. I then went to what is called Pilates Reformer. I had never heard of this before and so was quite unsure of what to think when I walk in to the room and see what looks like a torture device. Instead it is a workout machine that you can lie on, sit on, stand on, etc. We did a lot of stretching, flexibility work, and strength training on it. Very interesting….
After Pilates, I went to Ball Works and then to Treading. My calves were feeling better today so I ran during Treading. I am not 100% yet but it felt good to run again (in some ways). The more I ran though, the more my calves were cramping up on me. Of course I had to push myself though and ended up sprinting at 7.5. As the class ended, my calves were aching and hurting so much. Normally I would have stayed to do more cardio, but I just didn’t want to push it too much. Instead I went to stretch class. I really think Stretch helped my muscles release and I felt much better when it was over.
