The weather today was insane. Super strong winds literally took our power out last night around 8:30 PM. We lost power in our rooms for about 5 hours. The eating area, workout areas, laundry room, and Lecture Hall areas were without power until approx. 7:45 AM. Just getting to the dining area was almost scary. I felt like one of the bad nannies on Mary Poppins and just getting ready to fly away. One of the guides who had worked here for 4 years said that she had never seen winds like this here. The crazy part was that just a couple of miles into town and there was hardly any wind. Very Strange. Most people opted out of going on the hike, but somehow I bowed to peer pressure and ended up going on an alternative hike (out of the wind) with my good friend, Birch and Paul.
It was a very hilly and super long hike – 8.5 miles. There were some inclines that it almost felt impossible to walk up because they were so steep. So Birch and I had this brilliant idea to run up these super steep inclines. OUCH!! Cold weather was definitely moving in and we kept getting closer and closer to this large mountain that clearly had snow all over it and had a haze of a cloud hovering all around it. The closer we got to that mountain, the colder and windier it got. As we were walking, Birch noticed that our guide was wearing a backpack that looked like it had an Angry Bird on the back of it that was glaring at us! That thought kept us entertained for quite a ways…. LOL (You do what you can to keep the focus off of the thoughts concerning how much farther and longer you need to go! Ha ha)
My day was crazy busy today!
| Jordan (our guide) had a backpack on that looked like it was an ANGRY BIRD that was staring at Birch and I while we were walking. LOL |
